Guy Cools

After having trained as a dramaturge, Guy Cools became involved with the new developments in dance in Flanders from the 1980’s, initially as a dance critic and from 1990 onwards as theatre and dance director of Arts Centre Vooruit in Ghent. As vice-president of the Dance Council he contributed to the cultural policy towards dance of the Flemish Community. He curated dance events in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Venice and Montréal.

In 2002, he left Vooruit to dedicate himself fulltime to production dramaturgy with amongst others Koen Augustijnen – Lisi Esteras (Les Ballets C. de la B.), Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (B), Anabel Schellekens (B), Lia Haraki (Cyprus), Danièle Desnoyers (Montréal), Akram Khan (London), Christopher House (Toronto Dance Theatre). With Lin Snelling and Ginelle Chagnon he developped a series of workshops to support the creative process of artists, choreographers in particular. He regularly gives lectures and publishes in Belgium, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Holland and Greece.

Elly Van Eeghem

Elly Van Eeghem started drawing through classes at SintLucasAcademie and Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Ghent, Belgium. Progressively her interest turned to performance arts via workshops in theatre and dance. From 2003 up to 2007 she studied art history at the University of Ghent. During six months she was a student in ‘arts du spectacle’ at the University of Paris X-Nanterre and obtained her master degree in performance and medial arts. Her term paper discussed the issue of multilinguism in contemporary theatre and the intelligibility of the unknown. In 2007-2008 she was a student at l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre in Brussels were she attended the artistic department ‘espace urbain’. At present she works around consumption and movement in urban space. Her work takes shape through photography, video, drawing, writing, installation and intervention.
